Snow Blitz for grades 7–9 had an incredible second session as students took full advantage of the recent fresh snowfall at Brighton Ski Resort this evening. With perfect powder conditions and beautiful mountain views, our middle schoolers enjoyed an evening of skiing, snowboarding, and building confidence on the slopes. Thanks to Salt Lake County Recreation for providing the opportunity and to our dedicated advisors Mrs. Vader & Miss Vader who supported and encouraged students throughout the night, the experience was both fun and safe. It was exciting to see students challenge themselves, cheer each other on, and create lasting memories together in the outdoors. Snow Blitz continues to be a highlight of the winter season for our secondary students and we were fortunate to get two sessions this winter.

We are so proud of our students who competed in the Bluffdale City Constitution Bowl!

Out of 8 teams competing in the elementary division, North Star Academy Bears brought home 1st and 3rd place — an incredible achievement! Our third team fought hard, showed great determination, and gained valuable experience along the way.

Even more exciting — since only two middle school teams competed, both of our middle school teams are advancing, along with two of our elementary teams, to the State Competition at the Capitol at the end of March!

Way to represent, Bears! Your knowledge, teamwork, and dedication make us proud!

🌱 K–1 Cluster Growing Big Learning Through Hydroponics! 🌱

Our youngest learners are doing some serious growing — both in the classroom and in their hydroponic garden!

Over the past several weeks, our Kindergarten–1st Grade cluster has been diving into hands-on science as they explore hydroponics and the plant life cycle. Students have been observing their plants closely, measuring growth each week, and recording detailed data in their science journals. From tiny seedlings to vibrant greens, they’ve witnessed firsthand how plants grow and what they need to thrive.

Through this project, students are:

🌿 Learning the stages of the plant cycle

📏 Measuring plant growth and tracking changes over time

📓 Recording observations and data in their journals

🔎 Developing scientific thinking through inquiry and discussion

This week, their hard work came full circle! After carefully harvesting their crops, students celebrated by making walking taco salads using the fresh vegetables they grew themselves. The excitement was contagious as they proudly enjoyed the healthy foods they nurtured from seed to harvest.

Experiences like this bring learning to life — integrating science, math, healthy habits, and real-world application in meaningful ways. We are so proud of our young scientists for their curiosity, responsibility, and enthusiasm!

Stay tuned for more updates from our growing gardeners!
